Ng Jia Liang: BN-PN cooperation is political manoeuvring, seat talks unresolved
DAP Socialist Youth chief Ng Jia Liang said in an interview in Kuala Lumpur that cooperation between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional is a political game of mutual calculation, with both sides painting unrealistic promises. Citing Perak, he said Pakatan Harapan won 26 seats in the last state election and could take all Malay and mixed seats with BN, but seat allocation after the polls would be awkward.

NCER sets RM470bil investment target by 2030, 310,000 jobs planned
The government has set a target for cumulative realised investment in the Northern Corridor Economic Region to reach RM470 billion by 2030, up from RM343.8 billion realised so far. The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority says E&E, automotive, high-value tourism and modern agriculture will drive 70 per cent of the target, with EV investments being assessed in Kulim, Kedah. NCER also aims to create 310,000 jobs by 2030, 45 per cent of them high-skilled.

LKIM rolls out PADAN database to streamline aid, subsidies for fisherfolk
LKIM is now using its Fishermen Database System (PADAN) as the master database to coordinate aid and subsidies for fishing communities nationwide. China: Philippines' maritime claims in South China Sea illegal
China's foreign ministry said Tuesday that the Philippines' maritime jurisdiction claims are illegal and that it will take resolute measures to safeguard its sovereignty. The dispute centres on features in the South China Sea including Meiji Jiao, Zhubi Jiao and Zhongye Dao, which Beijing says are part of its Nansha Qundao territory. Sarawak targets full ePASS rollout to replace paper timber transfer passes by June 2027
Sarawak aims to fully enforce the Electronic Transfer Pass (ePASS) statewide by June 2027, replacing paper-based timber transfer passes with a traceable digital format. The system, developed under the Sarawak Timber and Forest Revenue Tracking System (REVLOG), was launched at the Sheraton Hotel in Kuching and will roll out in three phases starting January 2027 in Kapit, Sibu and Sarikei.

Sanusi wants PAS-UMNO seat talks widened beyond Melaka
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said PAS-UMNO seat negotiations should cover other states, not just the Melaka state election. He suggested that if UMNO wants to contest in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu or Perlis, PAS should also be given room in Melaka. TNB denies AFA adjustment caused sudden spike in electricity bills
TNB has denied that the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA) mechanism is the cause of sudden increases in consumers' electricity bills. In a media statement, it said the AFA introduced on 1 July 2025 is not a new charge and domestic users below 600kWh a month are fully exempted. Since implementation, consumers have received RM3.1 billion in AFA rebates against RM0.8 billion in surcharges.

KPKM: immature padi behind 46.2pc grading rate at Bukit Kenak rice mill
Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security says a high content of immature or green padi, at 23.8 per cent, was the main cause of the 46.2 per cent grading rate at the BERNAS rice mill in Bukit Kenak, Terengganu. It says quality checks followed Malaysian Standard MS 84:2017 and that farmers signed the Padi Quality Certificate before purchases were confirmed. The issue drew attention after a farmer's complaint circulated on social media.

Northern Corridor blueprint targets RM470bil cumulative investment by 2030
The Northern Corridor Economic Region launched its 2026-2030 strategic blueprint in Kuala Lumpur, aiming for RM470 billion in cumulative investment by 2030, RM126.2 billion more than the previous phase. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah said the plan targets RM369 billion in northern GDP, a median household income of RM7,500 and 310,000 jobs across Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.
