NRD: New Generation MyKad will not affect aid or subsidies
The National Registration Department says the New Generation MyKad, issued in stages from today, will not affect access to government aid and subsidies, including the SARA scheme. Existing MyKad holders need not replace their cards unless damaged, while KPP, KPT and ghost-image MyKad holders must switch. The new card drops Touch 'n Go functionality.

MADA paddy farmers want fertiliser and pesticide subsidies paid directly via MyKad
Paddy farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area are asking the government to channel agricultural input subsidies such as fertiliser and pesticides directly to them through MyKad, following the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) model. An economics lecturer says the method would improve governance, cut leakage to middlemen, and allow real-time monitoring.

National student council proposes RM200 bus fare aid for peninsula students
The National Student Representative Council has asked the government to consider a one-off RM200 bus fare subsidy for students in Peninsular Malaysia who are not flying for the September or October intake. Its president welcomed the existing RM500 domestic flight ticket aid but said the needs of students travelling by bus should also be addressed.

DKU Negeri Sembilan: Tuanku Muhriz still the lawful Yang di-Pertuan Besar
The Dewan Keadilan dan Undang Negeri Sembilan has reaffirmed that Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir remains the legitimate Yang di-Pertuan Besar, saying the post is not vacant and the state executive council's September 16 decision has no legal effect. It says the April 19 proclamation was defective and void, and that the matter is now before the Seremban High Court.

Akmal proposes incentives for solar firms to cut installation costs

The government has agreed to expand the BUDI Madani Diesel eligibility transfer facility, allowing registered owners of private diesel vehicles to transfer their eligibility to any eligible actual user, effective immediately. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the change at the national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebrations at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, following concerns raised by ministers from Sabah and Sarawak over pickup and jeep owners. The Finance Ministry said recipients must be Malaysian citizens with a valid MyKad and the transfer does not change vehicle ownership.

Australia to stop foreign students bringing partners and children

Government gives RM500 flight ticket aid to new public university students
The government announced a one-off RM500 aid for domestic flight tickets for new students of public universities for the September or October intake. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said it is among efforts to ease the people's burden and strengthen ties between the Federal government and Sabah and Sarawak, alongside a special grant for Sarawak and improvements to BUDI Diesel.
