Tahir Ahmed Ansari will be Singapore's only representative in modern pentathlon at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, with qualifying starting on 16 September. The 34-year-old took up the sport about two years ago after trying laser pistol shooting at a booth outside the National Stadium.

Selangor Malay team target Raja-Raja Gold Cup after Agong Cup defence
Selangor's Malay team retained the Agong Cup for a fourth straight year after beating Kuala Lumpur Malay 2-0 at Stadium Sungai Besar. Coach Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Yunus said the win is a tonic for the Raja-Raja Gold Cup, which starts Friday, with Selangor drawn in Group C with Terengganu, Perlis and Penang's Flex Hi Suria FC.

South Africa seal 3-0 series win over Namibia with nine-wicket victory
South Africa beat Namibia by nine wickets in the third and final ODI in Windhoek. Namibia were bowled out for 156 in 36.2 overs, with Jordan Hermann hitting 77 as South Africa chased the target in 1.3 overs. The win completed a 3-0 series sweep.

UKM student completes Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice
Ahmad Dani Amir Fariz, a first-year law student at UKM, finished the 2026 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France in 6 hours 44 minutes 21 seconds. He was Malaysia's youngest participant and the first public university student to qualify for the world championship after placing in the top 10 of the 18-24 age group at Ironman 70.3 Langkawi 2025.

JMR takes Pro-Am runner-up spot at Suzuka 1000 endurance race
Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) finished second in the Pro-Am class at the Suzuka 1000 GT3 endurance race in Japan on Sunday. Team owner and racer Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim and pro driver Ben Green completed the six-and-a-half-hour race, improving on last year's third place. JMR's Pro team finished fourth, just off the podium.

AFC audit report to be handed to new FAM exco after Sept 17 election
The incoming FA of Malaysia leadership will receive a full Asian Football Confederation governance audit report after the Sept 17 election-cum-congress, AFC general-secretary Datuk Seri Windsor Paul confirmed. Tennis players drop public campaign, form council with Grand Slams

YPM FC win inaugural Pahang People's Football League
YPM FC became the first champions of the Pahang Liga Bola Sepak Rakyat after beating Majlis Daerah Raub FC 2-1 in the final at Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan. Goals from Wan Muhammad Akmal Hakim Wahab and Nasyrullah Mohd Zaki sealed the Al-Sultan Abdullah Cup and RM40,000. The league, which began on June 6, drew 105 teams and 2,600 players under 19.
