Sarikei records highest unhealthy API reading in Sarawak at 184
Twelve air quality monitoring stations in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index readings as of 4pm, with Sarikei highest at 184. Serian followed at 182, then Lundu (180), Samarahan (175) and Kuching (172). The Asean Specialised Meteorological Centre warned transboundary haze risk remains due to dry conditions in southern Borneo and Sumatra.

Air quality across Sarawak improved on Sept 10, with all monitored areas recording API readings below 200 as of 1pm. Sarikei had the highest reading at 189, followed by Lundu at 185 and Serian at 182, while Bario recorded the lowest at 62.

DBKL cuts Kuala Lumpur flood-risk areas from 30 to 14
DBKL has reduced the number of flood-risk areas in Kuala Lumpur from 30 to 14 through early prevention and continuous monitoring. Sikambut and Sungai Toba are now under special watch, with river and drain cleaning stepped up. APM received an extra RM30,000 for personnel welfare during flash-flood operations.

MetMalaysia: No Evidence Anak Krakatau Ash Entered Malaysian Airspace
MetMalaysia has denied claims that volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau's eruption in Indonesia entered Malaysian airspace, saying the ash is moving towards the Indian Ocean. Its director-general also said Malaysia is in a normal El Nino phase expected to strengthen by March-April next year, especially in the northern peninsula states.

Sarawak haze: Badron Munirah worried about family's safety in Mukah
Actor Badron Munirah has voiced concern for his family's safety in Mukah, Sarawak, after haze pushed the Air Pollutant Index in several parts of Sarawak to unhealthy levels. He said conditions in Mukah are not as bad as in Kuching and its surroundings, but he remains worried because his family includes young children and elderly members, as well as his mother, who has health problems.

Central Singapore's 24-hour PSI crossed into the unhealthy range at 11pm on Sep 9 and reached 106 by 9am on Sep 10, while other regions stayed moderate. NEA says smoke haze from fires in southern and central Sumatra and Kalimantan continues to drift towards Singapore, with dry conditions expected to persist.

Heavy rain warning for Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Johor until 1pm
MetMalaysia has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for five Malaysian states until 1pm today. The affected districts include Langkawi, Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar in Kedah; Kerian, Larut, Matang, Selama, Manjung and Bagan Datuk in Perak; Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Klang in Selangor; and Pontian, Kulai, Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi in Johor. The public and motorists are advised to stay alert due to the risk of flash floods and wind damage.

Sarawak API readings improve, 14 areas still unhealthy
Air quality across Sarawak improved as of 8am Thursday, with no station recording a very unhealthy reading. Fourteen areas remained in the unhealthy category, led by Sarikei at 194, while Bario was the only location in the good range at 17.

Sarikei in Sarawak recorded the country's highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 194 as of 8am, with 15 areas nationwide registering unhealthy air quality amid the ongoing transboundary haze. Sarawak dominated the unhealthy list with 10 of the 15 locations, while haze has gripped large parts of the state since late August.

PUB tells commuters to avoid Jalan Boon Lay and Jurong Port Road junction over flash-flood risk
PUB has advised the public to avoid two locations in western Singapore on the morning of Sept 10 because of the risk of flash floods. Jalan Boon Lay from International Road to Enterprise Road and the junction of Pesawat Drive and Jurong Port Road were flagged for an hour from about 8.26am and 8.29am respectively, with heavy rain expected over many areas from 8am to 9.30am.

Taman Melawati flash flood causes 3km traffic jam on MRR2
A sudden flash flood in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, caused a severe 3-kilometre traffic jam on the MRR2 highway this afternoon. The flood, triggered by heavy rain, left many vehicles stranded on the road between Zoo Negara and KL East Mall. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.

Central Singapore PSI hits 102, air quality enters unhealthy range
Central Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reached 102 at 11pm on Sept 9, entering the unhealthy range. The National Environment Agency (NEA) attributes the haze to smoke plumes from fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan, and forecasts the PSI to remain at the higher end of moderate to the lower end of unhealthy.

Nagoya Asian Games venues and athletes safe after record flooding
Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa said athletes who arrived early for the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, were unharmed by extensive flooding that hit the city on Tuesday. About 400 athletes and staff were briefly evacuated, and there were some leaking roofs, but the venues are believed to be in good condition for the Games to proceed as planned from Sept 19.

Indonesia forest fires push carbon emissions to record high; Malaysia offers aid
Forest and peatland fires in Sumatra and Borneo have pushed Indonesia's carbon emissions to a global high, according to the EU's Copernicus monitoring service. In response, Malaysia has said it is ready to help Indonesia tackle the fires and the resulting transboundary haze, with PM Anwar urging ASEAN to improve its procedures.
