Furniture warehouse in Port Klang catches fire, 70% damaged
A two-storey furniture storage warehouse on Jalan Perusahaan 22, Kampung Idaman, Port Klang, caught fire this afternoon. About 70 per cent of the building was affected and a Perodua Viva was 20 per cent damaged, but no casualties were reported. The fire was brought under control at 5.31pm and the cause is under investigation.

Mother who manages funerals has to handle her own son's after Klang crash
A 62-year-old woman who has prepared bodies for burial for nearly 20 years had to handle her own son's remains after he died in a motorcycle crash at Kilometre 8.7 of Jalan Pelabuhan Barat in Klang. The 28-year-old technician is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while riding from Klang to Westport and was pronounced dead at the scene.

PTT Synergy unit wins RM83.26m earthworks contract from Sime Darby Property
Pembinaan Tetap Teguh Sdn Bhd, a unit of PTT Synergy Group Bhd, has secured an RM83.26 million contract from Sime Darby Property for earthworks and related tasks in Phase 1 of Bandar Bukit Raja Stage 4 in Klang, Selangor. The contract runs from September 2026 to March 2028.

GOF seizes RM1.9mil in smuggled cigarettes in Klang raid
The General Operations Force seized over RM1.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in a raid on a premises in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, on Tuesday. A 52-year-old man suspected of being the courier was arrested, and 4,920 cartons of untaxed cigarettes plus a Nissan Almera were seized. The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967 and the suspect and goods were taken to the Klang Utara district police headquarters.

Seven anglers missing near Pulau Ketam, Malaysia Maritime launches search
Seven anglers including a boat skipper were reported missing after leaving Jeti Sementa in Klang early yesterday morning. Malaysia Maritime Selangor activated a search and rescue operation with police and fire department assistance to look for them in the waters of One Fathom Bank near Pulau Ketam.

22nd Japanese Film Festival screens 14 films across five cities
The 22nd Japanese Film Festival began on 8 September in the Klang Valley before travelling to George Town, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu until 18 October. Fourteen Japanese films are being shown, including a retrospective of director Yamada Yoji and a Girl Power programme, with special Kokuho screenings at GSC Mid Valley and GSC MyTOWN.

146 held, 50 motorcycles seized in Bukit Raja toll plaza road bully op
Selangor police detained 146 people aged 16 to 25 and seized 50 motorcycles in an integrated operation against road bullies at the Bukit Raja Toll Plaza on the NKVE early Saturday. The operation, involving JSPT, JPJ and AADK, issued 116 summonses and screened 22 people for drugs, with no positive results.

Selangor records RM70bil approved investment as of June, eyes RM80bil target
Selangor recorded RM70 billion in approved investment value as of June this year, with services and manufacturing the biggest contributors. State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the state is confident of hitting its RM80 billion target within months. A 16-year-old Malaysian Tamil girl, Mangala Kali Vigneswaran, has been reported missing from her home in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. She was last seen at 5.45am on September 11 in her school pinafore, and Petaling Jaya police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Man who robbed RM150,000 in gold in Klang arrested in Brickfields
A 28-year-old gold bar courier was robbed at a homestay in Taman Sri Andalas, Klang, on Tuesday night when the suspect fled through the back door with 70 pieces of gold worth RM150,000. Police arrested a 57-year-old man at a hotel in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, less than 24 hours later and recovered all the gold. The suspect, who has seven previous criminal records, is remanded for four days and investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

Traffic policeman dies after motorcycle grazes lorry tyre in Jalan Kebun
A traffic policeman died after his motorcycle is believed to have grazed a lorry tyre in Jalan Kebun, Klang, on Wednesday night. The 41-year-old victim, attached to the Shah Alam district police traffic unit, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Wan Lestari stands by retirement, cites royalty frustration
Singer Wan Lestari, 58, has confirmed her retirement from singing is final. She said her last performance was at Jom Santai X Syahmi Sazli 8.0 at GM Klang in July, and that she decided to step back due to health concerns and disappointment over artist welfare and royalties. She now focuses on running a canteen and catering business.
