River overflow cuts off Jalan Silam, stranding thousands for nearly two hours
Thousands of road users on the Lahad Datu-Tawau route were stranded for almost two hours when Jalan Silam became impassable after a river overflowed following heavy rain. Pan Borneo Highway project contractors dug out and widened the drainage channel, and vehicles were allowed through slowly once water levels receded. Police denied social media claims that a bridge in the area had collapsed.

Lahad Datu chamber hosts Indonesian consul for trade talks
The Indonesian Consul General in Tawau, Dino Nurwahyudin, visited the Lahad Datu Chinese Chamber of Commerce to discuss closer trade and investment ties. The chamber's president Tan Cheng Teng said Lahad Datu's port, logistics and commodity strengths could support stronger links with Kalimantan, and the consul invited members to the Tawau Trade and Investment Conference and Indonesia Trade Expo 2026.
