Prosecutor seeks up to 13.5 years' jail for driver in fatal Tampines crash
The prosecution has asked for a jail term of up to 13.5 years for Muhammad Syafie Ismail, who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and hurt in a multi-vehicle collision in Tampines. A 30-year-old Singaporean man, Lu Zhong Cheng, was jailed about 21 months for assaulting a stranger in a Toa Payoh lift for S$1,000. The assault, which occurred on Sep. 4, 2025, left the 51-year-old victim with a fractured ankle. Lu was also sentenced for allowing his bank account to be used for criminal proceeds and for driving offences.
