Sarawak governor warns air pollution could hit 800 if transboundary haze worsens
Sarawak's governor, Tun Wan Junaidi, warned that air pollution readings in parts of the state could reach 800 points if the transboundary haze worsens. He recalled the 1997 incident when Kuching was shrouded in smoke, and noted the current haze has forced the cancellation of National Day celebrations and school closures. He called for ASEAN environment ministers to meet on peatland management and fire prevention.
