HLIB keeps 5.3% GDP forecast despite softer July industrial output
Hong Leong Investment Bank Research has maintained its 5.3% GDP growth forecast for Malaysia in 2026 even as the Industrial Production Index slowed to 4.7% year-on-year in July. The bank said the moderation was mainly due to a 3.2% contraction in mining output, not broad weakness in the industrial sector. E&E exports remained strong, growing 51.0% year-on-year.
