Malaysia's prenatal heart defect detection rate only 15 per cent, new association formed
Only about 15 per cent of critical congenital heart disease cases in Malaysia were detected before birth between 2016 and 2023, far below rates in developed countries. The newly established Fetal Heart Association aims to connect maternal-foetal medicine and paediatric cardiology to improve early detection and care planning nationwide.
