Speculators net long on yen for first time since February
Currency futures data showed speculators turned net long on the yen in the week to September 8, the first such reading since February. The shift follows expectations of faster Bank of Japan rate hikes and possible repatriation of assets by Japanese investors. The yen had earlier slid to a four-decade low of 163.99 per dollar in July before a joint market intervention by Tokyo and Washington.
