Malaysia, Thailand anti-corruption agencies agree to fight border graft

Malaysia's MACC and Thailand's NACC agreed to strengthen intelligence cooperation against cross-border corruption involving smuggling of subsidised goods, cigarettes and migrant trafficking. The agreement was reached at their 8th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 10 September. The MACC recorded 163 corruption complaints linked to border smuggling from 2021 to 2026, involving Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan.
