KOSPI opens 0.76% lower as Samsung, SK Hynix extend losses
South Korea's KOSPI opened 0.76% lower at 6,633.30 points on Tuesday, dragged down by semiconductor stocks Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The decline followed a 5.2% drop in the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index and concerns over AI spending, while higher Brent crude prices above US$105 added pressure. Investors are awaiting interest rate decisions from the US Federal Reserve, Bank of Japan and Bank of England.
