Ex-DeepMind engineer Bilal Chughtai warns AI could wipe out humans

A former Google DeepMind research engineer, Bilal Chughtai, said on X that he resigned over AI safety and believes the technology could kill all humans, adding that time may be running out. His warning follows similar comments from Anthropic researchers Jacob Coxon and Evan Hubinger, while Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for slowing advanced AI development and President Donald Trump has dismissed the push for regulation as a hoax.
