Gates Foundation pledges US$1b over two years to widen AI access, with Singapore office leading regional push
The Gates Foundation said on Sept 15 it will spend at least US$1 billion (S$1.27 billion) globally over two years to expand access to artificial intelligence, with 40 per cent for education and 40 per cent for healthcare. Its chief executive Mark Suzman told The Straits Times the foundation, which opened a Singapore office in May, is studying how lower-income and rural communities in the region can benefit. The pledge came alongside the foundation's annual Goalkeepers report.
