FAM elects new leadership tomorrow, 17 of 28 candidates have old ties
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will hold elections for its president and new executive committee on 17 September, seven months after all 17 of its leadership members resigned following an AFC governance review. Of the 28 eligible candidates, 17 have old ties to FAM including 12 former executive committee members, raising questions over whether real change will happen. FAM also needs to restore its credibility after being fined about RM1.9 million by Fifa over fake documents in the registration of seven foreign-born players.
