Kuantan man, 65, loses RM218,239 to fake crypto investment on Facebook

A 65-year-old water filter businessman in Kuantan lost RM218,239.24 after joining a WhatsApp group for a cryptocurrency investment advertised on Facebook. He made 53 transactions through Luno, Mxglobal and Trust Wallet before his Uphold account was frozen on Aug 20 and he was asked to pay RM30,000 in tax. Pahang police are investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
