Fire destroys non-permanent house in Kampung Contoh Petagas, Putatan
A non-permanent house at Kampung Contoh Petagas in Putatan was destroyed in an early morning fire on Wednesday. The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department received the alert at 4.56am and brought the blaze under control within six minutes. No casualties were reported.

Kota Kinabalu residents seek dialogue with developer over parking lot relocation
Residents of a residential complex in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, are appealing to the developer, Asian Pac Holdings Berhad, for a dialogue over the relocation of their parking lots to the 5th floor of an adjacent shopping mall, effective 1 June. The residents claim the decision was made without prior discussion. The group chairman has said he will review the complaint letter.

Sabah land department postpones demolition of Kinabatangan farmers' land after appeal
Farmers from Kampung Sungai Pahu-Lokan in Kinabatangan, Sabah, have received a reprieve after the Sabah Lands and Surveys Department agreed to postpone a planned demolition of their land. The postponement follows an appeal by land claimants and a gathering outside the department's office in Kota Kinabalu. A dialogue between the farmers, MHO, and the department is scheduled for next week.

Ideas Playground 2026 education fair set for Nov 7-8 at SICC in Kota Kinabalu
The Ideas Playground 2026 event, supported by Sabah's Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, will be held on November 7-8 at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu. The two-day programme aims to expose young Sabahans, especially those from rural areas, to various industries and future career opportunities through activities, exhibitions, and competitions.

Kota Kinabalu City Hall and conservation group form task force to protect wetland
Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and the Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society (SWCS) have formed a Joint Mangrove Clean-Up Task Force to tackle pollution threatening the Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site. SWCS President Datuk Zainie Abdul Aucasa identified eateries, workshops and squatter settlements as the main pollution sources, and clarified that recent demolitions were part of a larger, recurring effort to address the issue.
