Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi met Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim for about two hours at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. The meeting followed Ismail's claim that he was pressured into signing a controversial proclamation. Zahid's political secretary said it was just a regular afternoon tea for Umno leaders.

Umno open to cooperation but refuses to be tied to any party
Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the party is open to political cooperation with any side but must not depend on or owe favours to other parties. Fire in Taman Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur kills mother and two sons
A fire at a double-storey house on Jalan Satria 7/5 in Taman Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur killed a 49-year-old woman and her two sons, aged 18 and 11. The Klang district police chief said there is no criminal element or foul play, and the bodies were sent to Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital for post-mortem. The Fire and Rescue Department is investigating the cause.

Selangor police seize RM31.53m in drugs, arrest 14
Selangor police broke up six drug syndicates in seven raids across KLIA, Segambut, Kajang and Sepang between 19 and 26 August. The RM31.53 million haul included 135.4 kg of cannabis buds and 117.54 kg of MDMA, with 14 people arrested.

An MACC investigator told the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur that Consortium Zenith BUCG had more advantages than four other bidders for the Penang undersea tunnel and road projects. Under cross-examination in Lim Guan Eng's corruption trial, Zulhilmi Ramli disagreed with the defence that a 2011 Malaysia-China MoU did not guarantee the company the contract. The four other bidders were named in court.

Akmal: UMNO Youth reps who underperform or are hard to reach will not be renominated
UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said elected representatives from the wing who underperform, put personal interests first or are hard to contact will not be renominated in the next general election. Speaking at the UMNO Youth General Assembly 2026 at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, he also announced the wing will adopt the child of the late Maran UMNO Youth division chief Mohd Radzi Rahimi, with RM36,000 placed in an SSPN account for the five-year-old.

11 police reports filed, foreign vagrant detained for scratching cars at TRX
A 34-year-old foreign man believed to be homeless was detained after cars were scratched at a parking area near The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur. Police received 11 reports, including three from TRX management, with losses estimated at RM3,000. The suspect is remanded for four days and will be sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a mental examination.

BERSIH demands Najib serve remaining jail term, rejects house arrest
BERSIH is demanding that Datuk Seri Najib Razak serve the rest of his prison sentence and is opposing any move by the Pardons Board to grant the former prime minister house arrest. Its executive director, Asraf Sharafi, said this at a press conference at BERSIH's office in Petaling Jaya, a day before the board meets. Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah closed 322 days for Mutiara LRT works
MRT Corp announced that Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town will have a 322-day traffic diversion from Sept 12, 2026 to July 31, 2027 for piling and structural works on the Mutiara Line LRT. Jalan Magazine will also be partially closed from 10pm on Sept 14 to 5am on Oct 5 for road widening and utility relocation.

Police seize 51.686kg of MDMA worth RM7.75 million at Jalan Ceylon condo
Dang Wangi police seized 51.686kg of MDMA powder worth RM7.75 million in a raid on a condominium unit at Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur on 19 August. Five people were arrested, including two male and two female foreign nationals and one local man, and all suspects were charged in court on 2 September.

High Court sets Sept 17 for additional evidence in Rosmah's solar hybrid graft appeal
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has fixed Sept 17 to hear additional evidence from star prosecution witness Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah in Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's solar hybrid project graft appeal. The Court of Appeal had allowed Rosmah's application to adduce additional evidence, but the prosecution has filed a stay application and a notice of appeal to the Federal Court.
