Student from Kampung Bogag loses RM1,000 to SKMM, police impersonators
A 23-year-old student from Kampung Bogag in Bau, Sarawak, was cheated of RM1,000 by callers posing as SKMM and police officers who accused her of online gambling and money laundering. She transferred the money from her Bank Islam account on Sept 4 and lodged a police report at Bau police station on Sept 16. Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

Elderly man dies after being hit by MPV in Batu Kawa
A 79-year-old man died after being struck by an MPV on Jalan Field Force in Batu Kawa, Kuching last night. The 36-year-old driver, who did not hold a valid licence, has been detained as police investigate under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebration took place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Wednesday night, themed 'Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati'.
