F1 Bahrain GP preparations at Sepang 80 pct complete, says minister
Preparations for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit are 80 per cent complete, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said in Putrajaya. Upgrading works at SIC began on Sept 7 and 500 volunteers have been identified for training. Malaysia will host the race from Oct 2-4, bringing F1 back after nine years.

Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 in Putrajaya, KLIA blends culture and motorsport
Tourism Malaysia will hold the Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 from 23 September to 4 October at several locations including IOI City Mall Putrajaya, KLIA Terminal 1 and Hotel Sama-Sama. The festival combines motorsport exhibitions, a racing simulator competition and cultural performances including a parade of 1,500 dancers, as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign.

Selangor police seize RM31.53m in drugs, arrest 14
Selangor police broke up six drug syndicates in seven raids across KLIA, Segambut, Kajang and Sepang between 19 and 26 August. The RM31.53 million haul included 135.4 kg of cannabis buds and 117.54 kg of MDMA, with 14 people arrested.

An MACC investigator told the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur that Consortium Zenith BUCG had more advantages than four other bidders for the Penang undersea tunnel and road projects. Under cross-examination in Lim Guan Eng's corruption trial, Zulhilmi Ramli disagreed with the defence that a 2011 Malaysia-China MoU did not guarantee the company the contract. The four other bidders were named in court.

Akmal: UMNO Youth reps who underperform will not be renominated
UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said elected representatives from the wing who underperform, put personal interests first or are hard to reach will not be renominated in the next general election. 11 police reports filed, foreign vagrant detained for scratching cars at TRX
A 34-year-old foreign man believed to be homeless was detained after cars were scratched at a parking area near The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur. Police received 11 reports, including three from TRX management, with losses estimated at RM3,000. The suspect is remanded for four days and will be sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a mental examination.

Three more charged with murder of 23-year-old at illegal gathering in Taman Alam Megah
Three more alleged gang members were charged in the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam today with murdering a 23-year-old man during an illegal gathering last month. The charges bring the total number of people charged in the case to 11, after eight men were charged with the same offence last week. The offence was allegedly committed at 1.59pm on Aug 25 at Jalan Mandolin 33/5 in Taman Alam Megah, and the court fixed Nov 24 for mention.

BERSIH demands Najib serve remaining jail term, rejects house arrest
BERSIH is demanding that Datuk Seri Najib Razak serve the rest of his prison sentence and is opposing any move by the Pardons Board to grant the former prime minister house arrest. Its executive director, Asraf Sharafi, said this at a press conference at BERSIH's office in Petaling Jaya, a day before the board meets. He argued that special treatment for high-profile individuals would create a dangerous double standard and undermine the rule of law.

Farmer, 52, shot dead outside child's rented house in Banting
A 52-year-old local farmer was shot dead in front of a rented house in Teluk Bunut, Banting, between 10.30pm and 11pm on Tuesday. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the victim is believed to have gone to check on the house, which was rented by his child and unoccupied at the time. Police have detained a local man in his 20s to 30s and obtained a two-day remand order; the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah closed 322 days for Mutiara LRT works
MRT Corp announced that Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town will have a 322-day traffic diversion from Sept 12, 2026 to July 31, 2027 for piling and structural works on the Mutiara Line LRT.
