Fahmi: Sarawak electoral boundary review already under way, no date set
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the electoral boundary review process has already begun but gave no commitment on completing it before Sarawak's next election. He spoke to reporters in Kuching after visiting a Borneo Post photographer whose Kampung Tabuan Dayak home was damaged by an Aug 25 storm. The Election Commission says the review is at the fourth of 16 constitutional stages, with public display of draft boundaries open until Sept 30.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil visited the house in Kampung Tabuan Dayak and said Sarawak has received RM172,000 for 58 media practitioners.

Three held after meth-positive urine tests in Kuching and Bau raids
Three local men aged 19 to 40 were detained after testing positive for methamphetamine during an AADK Kuching anti-drug operation on Sept 14. The raids under 'Ops Cegah' covered Kampung Bijurey in Krokong, Taman Mutiara in Bau, Kampung Benuk and several areas around Kuching. They were arrested under Section 3(1) of Act 283 for further investigation.

Two men arrested after testing positive for drugs in Bau
Two men aged 25 to 29 were arrested beside Jalan Bau-Lundu in Bau, Sarawak, yesterday afternoon on suspicion of drug abuse. The Bau district police chief said both suspects were detained by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Bau district police headquarters and tested positive for drugs in initial urine screening. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Cable thieves hit two Bau telecom towers, RM6,000 lost
Police in Bau district, Sarawak are investigating the theft of telecommunications cables from two separate communication towers yesterday. The first case at Kampung Opar involved about 80 metres of Power Cable RRU with losses estimated at RM6,000, while the second at Kampung Daun Singai saw about 70 metres of cable taken. Both sites are surrounded by forest and have no CCTV or security guards.

Free health screenings for 250 Bau residents under MOHE Prihatin Madani
A total of 250 residents in Bau received free healthcare services on Saturday (Sept 12) through the Ministry of Higher Education's Prihatin Madani 2026 outreach programme. Organised with the Consortium of Malaysian Public University Teaching Hospitals, it involved 130 specialists and staff from 10 teaching hospitals, offering screenings, consultations, medication and home visits to bedridden patients. Bau police check 150 vehicles, arrest one man in integrated crime op

Cook dies after car skids into ditch on Jalan Sungai Moyan
A 41-year-old cook died after the Perodua Kenari he was driving skidded and flipped into a ditch on Jalan Sungai Moyan in Kuching early this morning. Jeffery Dion was pronounced dead at the scene by a Sarawak General Hospital assistant medical officer. Padawan police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
