Prosecutor seeks up to 13.5 years' jail for driver in fatal Tampines crash
The prosecution has asked for a jail term of up to 13.5 years for Muhammad Syafie Ismail, who pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and hurt in a multi-vehicle collision in Tampines. Man fined S$560,000 for evading duty on over 28,000 bottles of beer in Singapore
A 47-year-old Chinese national, Han Xiaoyang, was fined S$560,000 in a Singapore court for evading over S$60,000 in customs duty on 28,236 bottles of beer. The scheme involved falsely declaring the beer as other goods. As he did not pay the fine, he will serve 164 days in jail. The case was reported by Singapore Customs after an operation in November 2025.

10 local businesses join Ang Mo Kio pilot to test new strategies

Man and woman arrested in Toa Payoh after drugs and weapons found in car
A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested in Toa Payoh on Sept 4 after police found weapons, suspected drugs, and contraband cigarettes in their car. The arrests were made during a patrol at Block 4 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh. The cases have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore Customs, and the Health Sciences Authority.

Meituan denies sending rider to Singapore for curry puffs after viral video

Man who stopped voyeur at Sengkang MRT among five honoured for catching offenders
Kwok Yen Ming, 36, was at Sengkang MRT station on July 8 when he noticed a man filming a female commuter on an escalator. He confronted the man and, with the station manager, detained him until police arrived. On Sept 4, Kwok and four others were recognised at the Public Transport Security Command Community Roadshow at Punggol Coast MRT station.
