Johor Umno liaison chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi called on party members not to let differences of opinion divide Umno. He spoke after attending the President's Briefing that opened the 2026 Umno General Assembly at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Another Pagoh Umno division leader said the party must go to the ground and listen to the people's grievances.

Wanita UMNO and Puteri UMNO urged their wings to rebuild public trust ahead of the next general election. Wanita chief Noraini Ahmad said BN's wins in Johor and Negeri Sembilan showed trust can be regained, while Puteri chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi pressed for a 30 per cent quota for women candidates. High Court sets Sept 17 for additional evidence in Rosmah's solar hybrid graft appeal
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has fixed Sept 17 to hear additional evidence from star prosecution witness Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah in Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's solar hybrid project graft appeal. The Court of Appeal had allowed Rosmah's application to adduce additional evidence, but the prosecution has filed a stay application and a notice of appeal to the Federal Court.

Remand on Azeez not extended, ex-Tabung Haji chairman to be freed today
Kuala Lumpur: Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is expected to be released this evening after police failed to extend his remand. His lawyer said the application for a further three days under Section 420 of the Penal Code was rejected, and Azeez is due out before 5pm. He and two former TH officers had been remanded over a fraud case linked to TH hibah.

Syed Saddiq invites Ong Ye Kung to Oct 10 wedding with Bella Astillah
Malaysian politician Syed Saddiq has invited Singapore Health Minister Ong Ye Kung to his wedding to singer-actress Bella Astillah on Oct 10. The invitation was shown in a social media post on Sept 9, and Ong replied with congratulations a day later. The wedding will be held at Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur, with celebrations also planned in Muar and Sabah.

Puteri Umno hopes for the best as Najib's clemency bid goes to Pardons Board
At the Umno General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Puteri Umno chief Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi said the wing wishes Najib Razak well ahead of a Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting expected to discuss his clemency application. Najib, 72, is serving a reduced six-year sentence over the misappropriation of RM42 million from SRC International.

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said his wing is ready to answer PAS Youth's call for a Himpunan Mega Penyatuan Ummah, but wants the rally to include discussion and proposed solutions. He said this in his keynote address at the Umno Youth assembly at the World Trade Centre (WTC). Akmal also announced plans for a special team to help women left without support when husbands fail to pay maintenance.

The New Muslim Community Conference (NMCC) 2026 will be held at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on 13 September. Organised by the Al Khadeem Foundation, the conference aims to foster dialogue based on compassion and respect in addressing racial and identity issues in Malaysia. Foundation president Sheikh Hussain Yee said converts can bridge divides because their life experiences span both sides of Malaysia's social gaps.

UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh warned that any elected representative from the wing who fails to serve, is arrogant or is hard to contact will not be renominated in the next general election. He said this in his policy speech at the UMNO Youth General Assembly 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. He also announced RM36,000 into the SSPN account of the son of the late Maran UMNO Youth chief Mohd Radzi Rahimi, who will be made the wing's official adopted child.

Yasin Sulaiman freed after four years of treatment, says he lost hope
Malaysian composer and singer Yasin Sulaiman said he lost hope and thought it better to be hanged after being sentenced to 30 years in prison. After about four and a half years of treatment including at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, he was released on 2 September on conditions to continue medication and avoid cannabis.
