Awie pushes through solo concert at Stadium Merdeka despite sore throat
Datuk Awie, 58, performed his solo concert 'Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing 2026' at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, last night despite suffering from a sore throat and bronchitis. About 20,000 fans attended the 36-song show across five segments, including duets with Akim and Amir Masdi. Awie also sang his new song 'Maharaniku' as a gift for his wife Datin Sharifah Ladyana on their 10th wedding anniversary.

Elderly man hits accelerator by mistake, three injured in Pandan Perdana
An 89-year-old man accidentally pressed the accelerator while parking his car at Jalan 4/8 Pandan Perdana, Ampang Jaya, yesterday. Three people - a motorcyclist, a flower seller and a pedestrian - were injured and sought treatment at a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the case under Rule 10 LN 166/59.

MAIS brings Bidayuh customs to diaspora in Peninsular Malaysia
The Sarawak Native Customs Council (MAIS) held an outreach programme to bring the Bidayuh Adat 1994 closer to Bidayuh communities outside Sarawak. Universiti Malaya researchers turn prawn shells into biodegradable plastic film
Researchers at Universiti Malaya's Faculty of Engineering have converted discarded prawn shells into chitosan, a natural biopolymer, and used it with starch to produce biodegradable plastic films. In soil burial tests, the films began visibly degrading after three weeks and had substantially broken down by the fourth. The work links two Malaysian waste problems - food waste and plastic waste - but the material is still far from commercial use.

RM350,000 to upgrade roads and lifts at Bandar Tasik Selatan flats
The government has allocated RM350,000 to upgrade road structures at the Bandar Tasik Selatan low-cost flats in Kuala Lumpur under the 2026 Projek Mesra Rakyat initiative.
