Five Orang Asli freed on police bail after Tasek Bera forest reserve arrests
Five Orang Asli, including four women aged 30 to 65, were released on police bail after being arrested for allegedly obstructing an enforcement team at the Tasek Bera Conservation Forest Reserve in Pahang. They were detained during a joint operation under the National Forestry Act 1984 aimed at curbing land encroachment, and are being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

Tasek Bera Orang Asli seek talks after eviction notices, five arrested
Semelai Orang Asli villagers around Tasek Bera, Pahang, received Forestry Department notices in June to vacate parts of a forest reserve they have used for over five decades. On Sept 14, enforcement officers tried to enter villages including Kampung Pathir and five residents were arrested. The community is now seeking dialogue with authorities and withdrawal of the notices.

Johor installs 3,833 solar-powered village street lights in six districts
The Johor state government will install 3,833 solar-powered village street lights across six districts in phases from September to November. The RM10 million project covers Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Tangkak and Muar, with an additional 500 units funded by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. State committee chairman Md Israk Abdullah inspected the first phase at Kampung Mensudut Lama and Kampung Gelang Chinchin in Segamat.

Dementia-stricken elderly man missing a week in Kuala Krai, villagers keep searching
A 74-year-old man, Fauzi Deris, has been missing since last Wednesday after failing to return home in Ladang Kuala Pertang, Kuala Krai, Kelantan. Villagers and NGOs are continuing search and rescue efforts, while the local mosque has held special prayers.

Police arrest five Orang Asli in Bera over alleged obstruction of enforcement operation
Police arrested a man and four women, Orang Asli aged in their 30s to 60s, after they allegedly obstructed enforcement personnel during an operation at the Tasek Bera Conservation Forest Reserve in Bera yesterday. The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code. The Bera police chief advised the public not to spread unverified information about the incident.

SWCorp Pahang: litterbugs offer higher fines to avoid community service
In Kuantan, SWCorp Pahang said some littering offenders tried to pay higher fines rather than carry out community service orders, including cleaning drains. A total of 3,295 notices were issued across Pahang from 1 January to 14 September, with about 200 offenders ordered to do community service in four districts.

Delivery rider arrested in Temerloh with drugs, imitation pistol
Police in Temerloh arrested a 29-year-old delivery rider after finding an imitation pistol and drugs worth about RM1,000 in his car at Paya Keladan on Sept 12. The man, from Bera, tested positive for drugs and has been remanded until Sept 15 under the Dangerous Drugs Act and Arms Act.

Man missing at Jeram Air Leleh in Bukit Ibam found drowned
A 25-year-old man swept away by strong currents at Jeram Air Leleh in Bukit Ibam, Rompin, was found drowned this morning. He had been picnicking with eight friends before falling into the stream while holding a rope. Fire and rescue teams from Muadzam Shah, Pekan and Kuantan took part in the search.

Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Penang reopens after RM6 million restoration
The 125-year-old Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Penang on Jalan Gurdwara in George Town reopened yesterday after a RM6 million restoration that began in 2004. The Category One heritage building, the oldest and largest Sikh temple in Southeast Asia, was restored with traditional materials and artisans from India, with a RM1 million donation from Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah.

Death toll from 11-vehicle crash on LPT rises to five
An 18-year-old Honda CR-V driver died after more than 10 days of treatment, becoming the fifth victim of the 31 August crash involving 11 vehicles at Kilometre 110.3 of the East Coast Expressway. His father was among four killed at the scene, while the cement tanker driver was charged at a hospital over four deaths.

Motorcyclist dies after hitting MPV on Temerloh-Kuantan road
A 48-year-old Malaysian Indian man, K. Paramasivan, was killed after his motorcycle lost control and crashed into an oncoming MPV at KM 138 of the Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan road last night. His body was sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HOSHAS) Hospital in Temerloh for a post-mortem, and police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Lorry driver charged with killing four in LPT crash, hearing held at Temerloh hospital
A lorry driver, Zulkarnain Md Noh, 52, was charged with killing four people in a crash involving 11 vehicles at KM110.3 of the East Coast Expressway on Aug 31. The charge was read at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh, where no plea was recorded. The court set Nov 12 for mention.

Temerloh crash: girl, 9, dies after being thrown into oncoming lane; father suffers heart attack
A nine-year-old girl was killed when the motorcycle she was riding on with her father was hit by a vehicle on Jalan Temerloh-Mentakab in Temerloh, Pahang, throwing her into the opposite lane where another vehicle struck her. Her 55-year-old father survived with light injuries but suffered a heart attack after witnessing her death and was admitted to Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah. Police confirmed the father had been riding without a valid driving licence and have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

Father's motorcycle skids on Jalan Temerloh-Mentakab, nine-year-old daughter killed
A nine-year-old girl died after being thrown into oncoming traffic and hit by a vehicle when the motorcycle her father was riding skidded at Kilometre 2 of Jalan Temerloh-Mentakab in Temerloh yesterday. Her father suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Red Zone of Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah after a suspected heart attack, while the 21-year-old driver was unhurt. Police said the rider had no driving licence and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
