Selangor overall champions of Para SUKMA 2026, Amirudin hopes athletes reach world title
The closing ceremony of Para SUKMA 2026 was held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (STIC), with Selangor emerging as overall champions for the first time since the games began in 1982. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he hopes national para athletes will go on to become world champions, and noted the age limit of under 40 for athletes. Selangor collected 93 golds, 55 silvers and 52 bronzes, followed by Sabah and Sarawak.

National sepak takraw head coach Ahmad Jais Baharun says the Mekdi National Takraw League 2026 is the best platform for grassroots players to gain competitive experience. The league, jointly organised by McDonald's Malaysia and Harian Metro, opens in Seremban, Sungai Petani and Gong Badak next month before the final in Kuala Lumpur in November.

Perak athlete Chew Jit Thye successfully defended his badminton WH1 (wheelchair) gold medal at the Selangor 2026 Para Malaysia Games at the Selangor Youth and Sports Complex in Shah Alam. The 27-year-old won all four matches without dropping a set. He now trains at the Kampung Pandan Paralympic Sports Excellence Centre and aims for the Paralympics.
