Geng Mak Tok busted, four arrested in Kuala Muda
Police in Kuala Muda arrested four men believed to be part of the Geng Mak Tok syndicate targeting homes of luxury vehicle owners in the district. The September 9 arrests are believed to have solved nine housebreak and vehicle theft cases, with two suspects still at large.

Rusted iron grille gives way, girl badly hurt in fall at PPR Paya Nahu 2
A four-year-old girl suffered severe head injuries after falling about four metres at the PPR Paya Nahu 2 public housing project in Sungai Petani, Kedah, yesterday morning. She is unconscious with brain bleeding and is being treated at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim. Her grandmother says the damaged grille had been reported to the authorities several times without action.

Four masked men rob gold shop at Bakar Arang mall in Sungai Petani
Four masked men robbed a gold shop inside a mall in Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, last night. Two suspects smashed three display cases and fled with jewellery while two waited outside on motorcycles; losses are estimated at between RM700,000 and RM1 million. Kuala Muda police are investigating under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.

Maybank Islamic gives RM869,806 in zakat to Kedah board
Maybank Islamic handed RM869,806.58 in wakalah zakat to the Kedah Zakat Board for four asnaf economic and welfare programmes. The funds cover manufacturing technology training at KHTP Techno Centre, business capital for tailoring workshops in Kota Setar, a food distribution centre across 16 mosques in Kuala Muda, and sewing machines for participants.

PAS Kedah agrees to Sanusi meeting state UMNO leaders
PAS Kedah has agreed to an initial meeting between Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and state UMNO leaders to discuss possible cooperation between the two parties. Sanusi said the Menteri Besar's Office is arranging a suitable time for the meeting with former MBs Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah. He said any seat negotiations must consider the national position, not just individual states.
