Original Ulek Mayang singer Wan Salmah dies at HSNZ
Wan Salmah Wan Sulaiman, 82, the original singer of Ulek Mayang and a Terengganu cultural figure, died of oxygen deprivation at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu this morning. Her body will be prayed over at Masjid Gong Tok Nasek before burial at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Surau Hidayah, Kampung Mengabang Tengah. She brought Malay gamelan to Frankfurt, Milan, Amsterdam and Zurich, and represented Malaysia at the 9th ASEAN Arts Festival in Hong Kong in 1984.

Shop assistant charged with injuring wife in Gong Badak
A vehicle spare-parts shop assistant pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court to causing grievous hurt to his wife on 5 September.
