A 19-year-old restaurant waiter, Lim Boon Sik, was charged at the Sessions Court in George Town with attempted murder for allegedly ramming his car into a 25-year-old man during an armed fight in Air Itam on August 29. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM10,000. The case is set for mention on October 7.

Penang City Council raids unlicensed laundrette on Gat Lebuh Macallum
The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) conducted a joint enforcement operation on Monday at a laundrette on Gat Lebuh Macallum in George Town for operating without a valid business license. The premises was run by foreign workers who could not produce identification, and MBPP seized 38 laundry baskets and equipment blocking the public walkway. KPDN also issued compounds totaling RM500 for an expired weighing machine and lack of price display.

Over 3,000 attend Maulid Akbar event at Habib Mosque in Tanjung Tokong
More than 3,000 people gathered at Masjid Habib in Tanjung Tokong, Penang, for the Maulid Akbar Bukit Bendera Berselawat programme in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul. The event, organised by Pertubuhan Ummah Malaysia (PUMA), featured preacher Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin Al Hamid and a qasidah group. Eleven to be charged over Aug 29 armed clash between Gang 04 factions in Air Itam
Eleven men will be charged in George Town over an armed riot between two Gang 04 groups that occurred on Aug 29 outside SJK(C) Kong Min Second Branch in Air Itam. TT Vision awards RM92m construction contract for new Penang factory
