Chow: Penang wants to be China-Malaysia tech hub for Asean market
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state aims to be a platform for Chinese and Malaysian companies to jointly develop and scale technologies for the wider Asean market. Speaking at a reception marking the 77th anniversary of the People's Republic of China at a hotel in Gurney Drive, George Town, he cited Penang's RM64 billion exports to China from January to July.

Chow: Penang investors must create quality jobs with attractive pay
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said investors entering the state must create quality jobs and offer attractive salaries. He said Penang recorded RM17.3 billion in approved manufacturing investment in the first half of the year, the highest in the country. He spoke at the state-level Malaysia Day celebration in Kepala Batas.

Sim: Penang could host gold bazaar and storage facility
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim proposed that Penang set up a gold bazaar and possibly a gold storage facility to build the state into a regional gold hub. He spoke at the launch of Public Gold's refinery in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, which can refine up to 10 tonnes of precious metals a year and creates about 1,000 jobs.

Bank Rakyat unit RMS launches MyARX app for Ar-Rahnu services
Rakyat Management Services Sdn Bhd, a Bank Rakyat subsidiary, launched the MyARX mobile app to give customers faster, easier access to Ar-Rahnu pawnbroking services. The launch was announced at the Ar-Rahnu X'Change 2025 Awards in George Town, Penang, which also recognised franchisee performance for 2025.

Penang records RM17.3bil manufacturing investment, highest in the country
Penang recorded RM17.3 billion in approved manufacturing investment in the first half of this year, the highest in Malaysia and up 38 per cent from a year earlier. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state accounted for 34 per cent of the national manufacturing total, speaking at the 2026 Local Authorities Convention in Bertam.
