Tour bus catches fire at KM137 of North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, all 15 escape
A tour bus carrying 14 passengers and a driver caught fire at KM137 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, Batu Pahat. All 15 people escaped unhurt after the driver and tour leader evacuated them before firefighters arrived. The bus was about 80 per cent destroyed and the blaze was put out at 2.48pm.

Indian man held for driving lorry without licence near Rawang

Teacher who retired 4 days ago dies leading students on Batang Kali hike
A sports science teacher who retired four days ago died after collapsing while leading students on a hike at Ulu Tamu Forest Reserve in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor. Mohd Radhi Abd Rahim, 60, had taught at Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Sixth Form College in Sabak Bernam and was buried in Kampung Sungai Limau, Sungai Besar.

Lawyer Haniff Khatri's home destroyed in Bandar Country Homes fire
A house in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang was destroyed in a fire at about 3am. Lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla and his family escaped, with Haniff suffering minor burns and receiving treatment at the scene. Personal items including over 30 years of handwritten notes and journals were lost, and the family has yet to find their pet cats.

KL police propose KK Mart stores as GTSP safety points
Kuala Lumpur police are proposing to turn about 700 KK Mart outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor into Go-To-Safety-Points where the public can seek emergency help. Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the partnership would include joint patrols and possibly access to the chain's central CCTV feed. The proposal was announced at the opening of a KK Mart branch at the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters.

Four remanded five days over RM1.8m animal feed false claims
Four people, including an enforcement agency personnel, were remanded for five days by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court over allegedly false documents in animal feed supply claims worth RM1.8 million. The suspects, aged 40 to 60, were detained after giving statements at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office, and the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

GOF seizes RM1.9mil in smuggled cigarettes in Klang raid
The General Operations Force seized over RM1.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in a raid on a premises in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, on Tuesday. A 52-year-old man suspected of being the courier was arrested, and 4,920 cartons of untaxed cigarettes plus a Nissan Almera were seized. Reference proceedings were held at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya to honour the late Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad, a former Chief Justice of Malaysia. His daughter Melati Abdul Hamid recalled his refusal to be lobbied, his 'BUAT KERJA' banners at the Palace of Justice, and his years of writing after retirement. Muhyiddin's lawyer accuses MACC officer of intimidation over police report
At the Kuala Lumpur High Court, lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad accused MACC officer Mazery Mohd Zaini of attempting to intimidate him through a police report lodged by a colleague. Four children who fell into Kulim drain buried in single grave
Four children who fell into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim last night have completed post-mortems at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. Their bodies will be taken back to Kulim for burial in a single grave at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Sungai Karangan today. The incident happened when they tried to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the drain.

Lorry driver fails in High Court bid for RM19,604 termination benefits
The High Court in Shah Alam dismissed a lorry driver's appeal against the Director-General of Manpower's decision rejecting his claim for RM19,604 in salary in lieu of notice and termination benefits. A 60-year-old man died while leading a group of Form Six students on a hike in the Ulu Tamu Forest Reserve in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor. He collapsed and was pronounced dead by the Health Ministry, and firemen brought his body down and handed it to police.

Three firms ordered to pay RM730,000 over negligence in Range Rover theft
The Sessions Court in Klang ordered a logistics company and two warehouse operators to pay RM730,000 to Fadzil Aziz Motor Sdn Bhd after a Range Rover was stolen from a warehouse in Westports, Pulau Indah. Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza found the three defendants negligent for leaving the vehicle unlocked with keys inside and the warehouse doors open. The court also rejected QBE Insurance's argument that its policy did not cover the theft because there was evidence the fence was cut.

MACC officer reports Muhyiddin's lawyer to police over document in Jana Wibawa trial
An MACC officer has lodged a police report claiming that lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad disclosed a classified document during Muhyiddin Yassin's corruption trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. The document is a recording of a conversation involving Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad, a former Segambut Bersatu deputy division chief who has been mentioned in testimony over the Jana Wibawa programme. Police are investigating the alleged disclosure.

Three held over attempted cable theft at Jalan Reko, Kajang
Police arrested three men, aged 25 to 46, over an attempted cable theft near a traffic light junction along Jalan Reko in Kajang at about 4am today. Two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and all three will be brought to the Kajang Court tomorrow for a remand application.

Seven men including a boat skipper are missing after leaving Jeti Sementa in Kapar to fish, last seen near Batuan Kencing at about 5.30pm yesterday. The first day of the search and rescue operation was suspended at 7pm and will resume tomorrow morning, with the boat and all seven men still not found.

Box with toy blocks destroyed by bomb squad in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling

Classroom at SK Setia Alam destroyed in fire
A classroom at Sekolah Kebangsaan Setia Alam on Persiaran Setia Prima in Shah Alam caught fire this afternoon. Firefighters received the emergency call at 4.20pm and found the classroom 100 per cent burnt, though the flames were out before the Bukit Jelutong fire station crew arrived. Vietnamese couple arrested in Ampang for illegal immigration services
A Vietnamese husband and wife were arrested in a raid at a premises on Jalan Bemban, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur for allegedly offering illegal immigration services to fellow Vietnamese, charging up to RM12,000 per client. The Immigration Department conducted the raid after a month of intelligence gathering, seizing various documents and equipment. All three suspects were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further investigation.

Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.
