Singaporeans back WP MP Kenneth Tiong's questions on SIA's Air India losses

Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow replied that there is no present threat to SIA's Singapore operations and that Air India's request for capital does not oblige SIA to provide it, while online commenters said Tiong was right to ask.

Masjid Ar-Raudhah in Bukit Batok still needs about $2.8 million to cover the rest of its Mosque Upgrading Project, which began on 13 July. 52 Singaporeans held in China; actress and influencer allegedly at linked Singapore networking sessions
Singapore's MFA said 52 Singaporeans were arrested and detained in Guangxi, China, in a law enforcement operation against suspected pyramid scheme activities. A Mothership reader said he attended two networking sessions in Singapore linked to the alleged scheme, including one at a bar along Alexandra Road in March 2026 where he allegedly met a Singaporean actress and a car influencer.

Indonesian crew member jailed eight weeks for smuggling ivory tusk into Singapore
A 30-year-old Indonesian ship crew member, Hafiludin, was sentenced to eight weeks' jail in Singapore on Thursday after he was caught bringing a 550g elephant ivory tusk into the country. He had hidden the tusk in a thermos flask and was stopped during an X-ray screening at the Keppel Entrance Crew office on Aug 9. He had bought the tusk from a merchant in Lagos, Nigeria, for US$150 and lacked the required permits.
