Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company was charged at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur with 71 counts of cheating a businessman over non-existent vehicle purchases, causing RM4.7 million in losses. Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty and was granted RM215,000 bail. The case is set for mention on Oct 16.

SMART team returns from Nepal, all 11 members healthy
The Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) arrived back in Malaysia at 2am today after completing its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief mission in Nepal. All 11 members passed health screenings at RMAF Subang Air Base, and their equipment including drones was handed over to Nepali rescue teams searching for flash flood and landslide victims.

15-year-old acquitted of Bandar Utama school murder on insanity grounds, sent to Hospital Bahagia
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted a 15-year-old boy of murdering a female schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, in October 2025. The judge found him of unsound mind at the time and ordered him placed at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, for a period to be approved by the Sultan of Selangor.

Mother of teen stabbed at Bandar Utama school vows to keep seeking justice
The mother of Yap Shing Xuen, 16, who was stabbed to death at a school in Bandar Utama last October, has vowed to keep seeking justice after the High Court acquitted and discharged the accused. Judge Datuk Adlin Abdul Majid ordered the suspect to be detained and treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak, after finding he was of unsound mind at the time of the incident.

MACC officer tells court no immunity deal with Azman in Muhyiddin trial

Penang student enters USM after caring for sick mother and siblings
Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, has begun his undergraduate studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia after years of caring for his cancer-stricken mother and three siblings, one of them disabled. His father died of Covid-19 five years ago and his mother died on 24 August. He had earlier turned down a place at UIAM and chose Form Six to stay with his family.

He said private inspection centres meeting JPJ standards can cut congestion and waiting times for vehicle ownership transfers to under 20 minutes. Classroom at SK Setia Alam destroyed in fire
A classroom at Sekolah Kebangsaan Setia Alam on Persiaran Setia Prima in Shah Alam caught fire this afternoon. Firefighters received the emergency call at 4.20pm and found the classroom 100 per cent burnt, though the flames were out before the Bukit Jelutong fire station crew arrived. No injuries were reported and investigators are looking into the cause.

Government wants more M.V.15 inspection centres opened nationwide
The government is encouraging more Motor Vehicle Inspection Centres (PPKM) dedicated to ownership-transfer (M.V.15) inspections for private vehicles to open nationwide. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the number of operators is not capped and any company meeting the conditions may apply for a licence. Vietnamese couple arrested in Ampang for illegal immigration services
A Vietnamese husband and wife were arrested in a raid at a premises on Jalan Bemban, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur for allegedly offering illegal immigration services to fellow Vietnamese, charging up to RM12,000 per client. The Immigration Department conducted the raid after a month of intelligence gathering, seizing various documents and equipment. All three suspects were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further investigation.

Police identify suspects in RM2.91 million robbery at Jalan Ampang condominium
Kuala Lumpur police have identified suspects in an armed gang robbery that caused RM2.91 million in losses at a luxury condominium on Jalan Ampang. The battle for the King of the Mountain jersey at Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 is expected to stay fierce until the final stages after Hors Classe points at Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands were raised to 25 from 15. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the three summit finishes at Gunung Jerai, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands will be key, with climbing zones in stages six and eight still offering points. Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.
