Tour bus catches fire at KM137 of North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, all 15 escape
A tour bus carrying 14 passengers and a driver caught fire at KM137 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, Batu Pahat. All 15 people escaped unhurt after the driver and tour leader evacuated them before firefighters arrived. The bus was about 80 per cent destroyed and the blaze was put out at 2.48pm.

Three held over attempted cable theft at Jalan Reko, Kajang
Police arrested three men, aged 25 to 46, over an attempted cable theft near a traffic light junction along Jalan Reko in Kajang at about 4am today. Two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and all three will be brought to the Kajang Court tomorrow for a remand application.

MIROS proposes regular health checks for elderly drivers
MIROS chairman Prof Dr Wong Shaw Voon suggested regular health screenings for drivers from age 40 as a condition for renewing licences. He said driving competence cannot be judged by age alone, and an age limit could create social risks for elderly drivers who remain fit. The proposal was made at MIROS headquarters in Kajang, while a driving institute operator in Segambut suggested practical training beyond 16 hours for elderly drivers.

Kajang police hunt two men who fled check and rammed MPV
Police in Kajang are tracking two men who fled after being stopped for inspection by an MPV patrol unit on Jalan Semenyih near the Kajang Prima traffic lights yesterday afternoon. The green Proton Wira hit a Perodua Ativa before ramming the police MPV, damaging its front right door, but no one was injured. The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and police are asking the public to come forward with information.

A lorry crashed into the front of an eatery at Jalan Batu 12 Cheras at about 6.30pm yesterday. Kajang police said early investigations indicate the 37-year-old local driver is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, not driven drunk as claimed in a viral video. No injuries were reported and the case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59.
