Three held over attempted cable theft at Jalan Reko, Kajang
Police arrested three men, aged 25 to 46, over an attempted cable theft near a traffic light junction along Jalan Reko in Kajang at about 4am today. Two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and all three will be brought to the Kajang Court tomorrow for a remand application.

Penang student enters USM after caring for sick mother and siblings
Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, has begun his undergraduate studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia after years of caring for his cancer-stricken mother and three siblings, one of them disabled. His father died of Covid-19 five years ago and his mother died on 24 August. He had earlier turned down a place at UIAM and chose Form Six to stay with his family.

Negri Sembilan DKU declares April proclamation invalid
The Negri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang has declared the April 19, 2026 proclamation on the abdication of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir unconstitutional and invalid. Its secretary said three of the four signatories did not hold the position of Undang at the time and no full inquiry was conducted as the state constitution requires. The DKU says Tuanku Muhriz's position remains intact and it recognises no vacancy.

The battle for the King of the Mountain jersey at Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 is expected to stay fierce until the final stages after Hors Classe points at Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands were raised to 25 from 15. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the three summit finishes at Gunung Jerai, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands will be key, with climbing zones in stages six and eight still offering points. Former minister Jamil Khir charged over RM860.3m Tabung Haji assets
In Kuala Lumpur, former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom was charged in the Sessions Court with three counts of dishonestly transferring over RM860.3 million in Tabung Haji assets. The 65-year-old pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. The judge set bail at RM300,000 and postponed the case to November 5.

Melaka Mufti Department's astronomy studies added to state TVET syllabus
In Alor Gajah, Melaka, astronomy studies under the Melaka Mufti Department have been included in the state's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) syllabus, including an introduction to building drones to determine the qibla direction. KPPA: Stop repeated errors in public sector human resource management
Public Service Director-General Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz called for an end to repeated errors in public sector human resource management by addressing root causes. He said this at the Public Sector Human Resource Management Conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today. JPA has carried out 61 consultation programmes since 2024.

MIROS proposes regular health checks for elderly drivers
MIROS chairman Prof Dr Wong Shaw Voon suggested regular health screenings for drivers from age 40 as a condition for renewing licences. He said driving competence cannot be judged by age alone, and an age limit could create social risks for elderly drivers who remain fit. The proposal was made at MIROS headquarters in Kajang, while a driving institute operator in Segambut suggested practical training beyond 16 hours for elderly drivers.

Police: Viral Cyberjaya barrier push was done with Tamarind Square management's permission
A traffic policeman was filmed pushing open an automatic barrier at Tamarind Square in Cyberjaya while escorting the official convoy of Datuk Undang Luak Johol. Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said the officer acted after the barrier failed to open and the premises management told him to push it manually, then restore it afterwards. No objections or complaints were received from either the escorted party or Tamarind Square management.

His father, Bee Sham Ahmad, said his son was deeply loved by people in rural Sarawak for his commitment to bringing health services to them through the Air Doctor Service. The family is leaving the investigation into the helicopter crash to the authorities.

Melaka student with Marfan syndrome graduates from PMM with 3.81 GPA
Muhammad Akmal Yazali, 22, from Melaka, received his Electronics Engineering (Computer) diploma from Politeknik Merlimau Melaka with a 3.81 GPA despite living with Marfan syndrome and scoliosis. He was among 1,195 graduates at PMM's 24th convocation in Port Dickson, and will continue his bachelor's degree at UTHM.

Police received a call at 10.33pm and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Putrajaya Hospital.
