Sabah marine police seize RM5.37m in untaxed cigarettes, liquor
Sabah's Region 4 Marine Police seized nearly RM5.37 million worth of untaxed cigarettes and liquor in three raids in Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu on 14 and 15 September. The first raid at an unregistered jetty by Sungai Seguntur in Sandakan detained a 45-year-old man and seized 1.82 million cigarettes, while a boat hidden in mangroves nearby yielded another 1.73 million. A separate operation at a warehouse in Kampung Dambai, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, seized 43,200 tins of liquor.

Ford Ranger skids off Jalan Lintas Utara in Sandakan, driver unhurt
A driver escaped injury after a Ford Ranger skidded off the road along Jalan Lintas Utara near Taman Nasalim in Sandakan on Wednesday. The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station sent eight personnel after a 4.45pm distress call, and the operation ended at 5.38pm once the scene was made safe.

Two crocodile warning signs installed at Sandakan's Pasir Putih beach
Two warning signs about crocodile danger have been installed at both ends of Pasir Putih beach in Sandakan, Sabah, following repeated reports of crocodile sightings in the waters near the fish cages. The move was initiated by Karamunting assemblyman Alex TK Wong after advice from the Sabah Wildlife Department, and residents are urged to be cautious, especially in the early morning, late afternoon and at night.

Sabah police visit retirees at Batu 12 with welfare aid
Sabah police carried out welfare visits and handed out aid to retired officers at Batu 12 in Sandakan on Thursday. Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin said the contributions recognise the retirees' service and urged ex-police associations to look after their members.

CHERY Borneo Drive 2.0 takes TIGGO PHEV across Sabah
CHERY Borneo Drive 2.0 saw TIGGO PHEV models travel over 734 km from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau over three days from 29 to 31 July 2026. The journey through Kundasang, Sandakan and Lahad Datu highlighted the plug-in hybrid technology's capabilities in various road conditions. Participants also visited the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and attended technology talks in several towns.

Karamunting cable theft cuts Internet, phone lines
A suspected cable theft in Karamunting, Sandakan, left residents near a block of flats in Batu Sapi without telecommunications and Internet services. Karamunting assemblyman Alex Wong Tshun Khee said he had contacted the telco and alerted police, and urged residents to report such incidents immediately.
