Malaysia should make the most of hosting Bahrain GP at Sepang, says ex-SIC CEO
Malaysia will host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October after the race was cancelled in Bahrain due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Former SIC chief executive Datuk Razlan Razali said hosting F1 brings international exposure and economic impact through hotels, F&B and tourism, though much of the event management is handled by Bahrain.

Sepang to host Bahrain F1 Grand Prix in October
The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will host the Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix from 2 to 4 October. SIC chief executive Azhan Shafriman Hanif said the response this time is far different from previous F1 editions, with the main hosting cost covered by Bahrain and Malaysia expected to gain significant economic spillover.

Four children who drowned in Kulim buried in a single grave
Four children who drowned after falling into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim, were buried in one grave at the Masjid Jamek Nurul Ehsan Islamic cemetery today. Two died at the scene and two on the way to Kulim Hospital.

Tour bus catches fire at KM137 of North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, all 15 escape
A tour bus carrying 14 passengers and a driver caught fire at KM137 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Yong Peng, Batu Pahat. All 15 people escaped unhurt after the driver and tour leader evacuated them before firefighters arrived. The bus was about 80 per cent destroyed and the blaze was put out at 2.48pm.

LTdL organisers prepare alternative routes for haze risk
Organisers of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 are preparing for possible haze, rain and floods during the race from 27 September to 4 October. LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said alternative routes are ready and any decision will follow UCI rules, including stopping or cancelling a stage if API readings are too high. PKBM president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said rider health must come first.

National squad aim to be more than also-rans at LTdL 2026
Malaysia's national road cycling squad unveiled four core riders for Le Tour de Langkawi 2026 at a media conference at the National Sports Council in Kuala Lumpur. Coach Mohd Yusof Abdul Nasir said the team will not settle for a supporting role and will focus on the climbs, with two more slots to be filled.

Perhilitan tracks elephant hit by car near Kemaman
Wildlife officers in Terengganu are closely monitoring an elephant injured when a car struck it near Kemaman. The elephant was crossing the Jerangau-Sabur road when the collision occurred, injuring three people including a married couple. The animal fled into a nearby palm oil estate.

MIAPEX 2026 in Seri Kembangan targets RM12 million in sales
The Malaysia International Automotive & Parts Expo (MIAPEX) 2026 will run from 23 to 25 October at MIECC, The Mines, Seri Kembangan, Selangor. Organisers are targeting over 22,000 visitors and more than RM12 million in sales through B2B and B2C platforms, with about 350 exhibitors from Malaysia and abroad.

JPJ detains driver using employer's Vellfire as illegal taxi at KLIA
A 53-year-old man was detained by Selangor JPJ at Terminal 2 of KLIA for offering unlicensed taxi services to four Myanmar and Bangladesh passengers. The Toyota Vellfire used belonged to his employer and was registered as a private vehicle. The case is being investigated under the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

Former addict at Jelebu rehab centre now supervises 146 workers
At the Jelebu narcotics rehabilitation centre in Negeri Sembilan, a 45-year-old former addict said his recovery period made him reflect after nearly eight years on syabu, and he now supervises 146 workers earning about RM8,000 a month. Two other clients at the centre shared their plans to start new lives after release, including opening their own businesses.

Late Chief Justice Abdul Hamid remembered at Palace of Justice reference proceedings
Reference proceedings were held at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya to honour the late Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad, a former Chief Justice of Malaysia. His daughter Melati Abdul Hamid recalled his refusal to be lobbied, his 'BUAT KERJA' banners at the Palace of Justice, and his years of writing after retirement. She said his creed was to do what is right and let honesty prevail.

At reference proceedings at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said the judiciary's standing comes from the character and conduct of judges, not from imposing buildings. The event honoured four former senior judges: Tun Mohd Eusoff Chin, Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Abdullah, Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad and Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob.

SMK Chung Hua Miri students win national robotics title, head to WRO Puerto Rico
A robotics team from SMK Chung Hua Miri won the RoboSports Double Tennis category at the National Robotics Competition (NRC) 2026 held at INTI International University in Seremban on 6-10 September. The win qualifies them to represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico.

Four children who fell into Kulim drain buried in single grave
Four children who fell into a drain at Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kulim last night have completed post-mortems at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. Their bodies will be taken back to Kulim for burial in a single grave at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Sungai Karangan today. The incident happened when they tried to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the drain.

Negeri Sembilan MB files two police reports, says Saifuddin
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim has filed two police reports over a declaration to remove the state's Yang Dipertuan Besar, which he says he was forced to sign. Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed this at a press conference in Port Dickson but declined to comment further, saying it is too early.

BIM saved RM157m and 10 years on Pan Borneo Sarawak, Works Ministry says
The Works Ministry said Building Information Modelling resolved over 3,000 drawing errors on the Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway in 2016, saving RM157 million and avoiding a potential 10-year delay. Police seek next-of-kin of unidentified man found in KLIA2 aircraft wheel bay
KLIA district police are asking the public and relatives of anyone missing since 19 August 2026 to come forward to help identify a man's body found in an aircraft wheel storage bay at Terminal 2 of KLIA (KLIA2). The body, found on the morning of 27 August after the plane landed from Tokyo, had no identification documents and the case is being investigated as a sudden death.
