Sarawak minister: haze season a risk to SEA Games and other major events
Sarawak youth and sports minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the recurring haze season could clash with major international sporting events such as the SEA Games, which are usually held around August and September. Speaking at Sarawak Stadium in Kuching, he said the problem needs intervention at the national level because it involves neighbouring countries.

Kuching API hits 152, Serian 145 as unhealthy air returns to Sarawak
Kuching recorded Sarawak's highest Air Pollutant Index reading of 152 as of 10am today, placing the city in the unhealthy category after several days of clearer conditions. Serian followed at 145, also unhealthy, while Samarahan registered 91 and most other divisions recorded moderate to good readings. Residents sensitive to air pollution are advised to monitor the latest API and limit prolonged outdoor activity.

KLFF and Luna Lights Wonderland in Kuching reopen as haze eases
The Kuching Lights & Floral Festival (KLFF) and Luna Lights Wonderland reopen to the public in Kuching today. Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) said the reopening follows an improvement in the haze in the city compared with two weeks ago. Visitors are advised to wear face masks, carry enough drinking water and check air quality readings before going.

Cloud seeding only short-term relief for Sarawak haze, says researcher
A researcher at Danau Girang Field Centre says cloud seeding can only give short-term relief from Sarawak's worsening haze and cannot fix the root causes of recurring fires. She points to peatland drainage, weak fire prevention and land management as the deeper problems, while Sarawak seeks more cloud seeding to refill dams ahead of hotter weather in October.
