Akta 877 to improve cross-border insolvency case management
Malaysia's Cross-Border Insolvency Act 2026 (Akta 877) will take effect on 28 August, enhancing the management of cross-border insolvency cases and strengthening cooperation between courts and authorities. The law, announced by ministers Azalina Othman Said and Armizan Mohd Ali, is based on the UNCITRAL Model Law and aims to protect creditors and support Malaysia's position as an international trade and investment destination.
