Silence, secrecy, asking for money are early signs a family member is trapped by a scammer
A crime analyst from Universiti Utara Malaysia says sudden changes in behaviour, such as becoming secretive or urgently asking for money, are early signs a family member has fallen victim to a scammer. He advises families to talk rationally with the suspected victim and to report serious cases to the police. The advice follows the revelation by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus about illegal investment and love scams linked to the deaths of a family of four in Sentul on 26 August.
