US grants RM1.1 million for Tugu Negara conservation project
A US$250,000 grant from the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation will fund a 12-month conservation project for Tugu Negara in Kuala Lumpur. The project, launched on Sept 1, will involve specialists from the US National Park Service, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and the Department of National Heritage. It aims to address weathering and structural concerns from a 1975 bombing, and to build local conservation expertise.
