UMS researchers discover new fungus species in restored Sabah rainforest

Researchers from Universiti Malaysia Sabah have identified and described a new entomopathogenic fungus species, Akanthomyces infaproensis, found in the INFAPRO rainforest restoration project near the Danum Valley Conservation Area in Lahad Datu. The discovery highlights the biodiversity value of restored forests and was published in the international taxonomy journal Phytotaxa.
