Chief Justice: Syed Ahmad Idid's pension is outside judiciary's purview, refer to JPA

Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said the pension matter of former High Court judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Idid Syed Abdullah Idid must be referred to the Public Services Department as it falls outside the judiciary's jurisdiction. He spoke after attending a memorial ceremony for former Chief Justices and Judges of Malaya at Istana Kehakiman in Putrajaya. The Bar Council had earlier urged the government to restore Syed Ahmad Idid's full pension, which he has not received since being forced to resign in July 1996.
