新山的水果摊贩表示，炎热天气带动了椰子销量，但增幅远不如往年，因为新加坡如今更容易买到椰子。一名摊贩Tie Kian说，他现在每天卖出约100个椰子，低于六七年前热天时的200至400个，因为新加坡顾客不再需要越境购买。
