Alexson Adit Henry, a 31-year-old Flying Doctor Service assistant medical officer, was buried at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir, Miri, on Sept 14 after a funeral service at Good Shepherd Church in Lutong. He was one of five people killed when an FDS helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram on Sept 8.

Jessie Paya Jok, 44, a nurse with the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) killed in a helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Baram, was buried at the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) cemetery in Lambir, Miri this afternoon. She was among five victims of the 8 September crash, which also killed a pilot, a medical officer and a medical assistant. The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is still investigating the cause.

Treasury circular sets RM20,000 ex-gratia for Long Lellang crash victims' families
A Treasury circular effective January 1, 2025 sets a RM20,000 lump-sum ex-gratia payment for next-of-kin of federal officers who die on duty, plus a monthly payment for widows and children. The scheme is relevant to families of the five killed in the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak, four of them Ministry of Health staff. Socso has already paid funeral benefits to two victims' families and is referring the other three, who had no Socso records, to the Social Synergy platform.

Police widen probe into Long Lellang helicopter crash, refuelling point under scrutiny
Police are expanding their investigation into the helicopter crash near Long Lellang STOLport in Baram, Sarawak, examining the refuelling location and the aircraft's flight path from Miri. Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said 19 witnesses have been recorded and no cause beyond an accident has been indicated so far. The technical probe has been handed to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, while the remains of all five victims have been claimed by their families.

Debra Moset, a 40-year-old nurse killed in the Perkhidmatan Doktor Udara (FDS) helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Baram, Miri, last Tuesday, was brought home to her new house in Kampung Semadang, Kuching for a final tribute. Her body arrived at Kuching International Airport at about 10am and will be buried at St Patrick Cemetery, Semadang tomorrow. The crash also killed pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, nurse Jessie Paya Jok and medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry.

Debra Moset's mother recalls Christmas plan for new Kampung Semadang home before Long Lellang crash
The mother of nurse Debra Moset said her daughter had planned to celebrate Christmas at her new house in Kampung Semadang, Padawan, before the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang. INTRAS calls for full audit of Flying Doctor Service contracts and safety SOPs
Pertubuhan Integriti dan Antirasuah Malaysia (INTRAS) has urged a comprehensive review of the Flying Doctor Service after the Sept 8 helicopter crash near Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak, which killed a pilot and four Health Ministry personnel. Its president Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Husin said aircraft safety, maintenance standards, contractual oversight and governance must be scrutinised, including the status of other helicopters of the same type or under the same operator. INTRAS supports continuing the service for remote Sarawak communities but wants any aircraft with unresolved safety questions grounded pending inspections.

Dr Ainul Baraah's body expected to arrive in Kelantan tomorrow morning
The body of Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, 33, who died in a helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Sarawak, is expected to arrive in Kelantan tomorrow morning. Her father said the body will be taken to Masjid Al Karomah Mukim Baung Besar, Pengkalan Chepa, before burial at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Sri Kedeper. DNA tests on the five victims have been completed and the bodies are being handed to families today.

The Sarawak government is leaving the investigation into the Air Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash near Long Lellang, Ulu Baram to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). Wreckage of crashed Flying Doctor helicopter moved to Miri for investigation
The wreckage of a Flying Doctor Service helicopter that crashed at Long Lellang STOLport on Tuesday, killing all five on board, has been transported to Miri for further investigation.
