72-year-old man burned as motorcycle catches fire in Jelutong
A 72-year-old man suffered first-degree burns to his hands and legs when his Honda EX5 motorcycle caught fire at Jalan Lenggong, Symphony Park in Jelutong, Penang. Firefighters from the Jalan Perak station put out the blaze, and the victim was taken to Penang Hospital. The case has been handed to the Fire Investigation Team.

Decorated boats light up Malaysia Day in Trong, fishermen of all races join

Ex-commando recalls Op Subuh at Bukit Jenalik
A former member of Commando 69, Zol'aini Sabar, 68, said Malaysia's peace today is the result of soldiers' sacrifices. He recalled the Bukit Jenalik tragedy in Kuala Kangsar on 2 July 2000, when the Al-Maunah group that stole weapons from the Wataniah Regiment camp in Gerik fortified itself there, triggering Op Subuh. Two security personnel died in the operation.

LKIM rolls out PADAN database to streamline aid, subsidies for fisherfolk
LKIM is now using its Fishermen Database System (PADAN) as the master database to coordinate aid and subsidies for fishing communities nationwide. Its chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said the system speeds up data access, vetting and eligibility screening, and also touched on maritime enforcement and a TVET programme for fishermen's children. He spoke after a MADANI community event in Bukit Gantang.

Indian man held for driving lorry without licence near Rawang
An Indian man was detained in an enforcement operation on the North-South Expressway near Rawang, Selangor. He admitted driving heavy vehicles without a valid licence or work documents for two years, earning up to RM4,000 a month. Selangor JPJ said employers who hire unlicensed foreign workers face action.

Lorry driver threatens suicide after JPJ Selangor summons on PLUS highway
A lorry driver became angry and threatened to end his life after being issued a summons during a JPJ Selangor commercial vehicle operation on the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh today. Two express bus drivers also gave excuses of not knowing the lane rules, while another admitted driving in the right lane to rush a cargo delivery.

Ipoh gets RM12.5m tourism boost, coffee festival to be annual
Ipoh is set to receive RM12.5 million for tourism and Kinta Riverfront upgrades, announced by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming at the inaugural Ipoh Coffee Festival 2026 at Riverfront @ Old Town. The festival, which drew thousands over four days, will become an annual event alongside the Ipoh Food Festival, with a white coffee master competition planned for next year.

Welfare Dept upgrades evacuation centres for disabled ahead of monsoon
The Welfare Department is upgrading temporary evacuation centres nationwide to better serve persons with disabilities during the monsoon season. Its director-general Datuk Che Murad Sayang Ramjan said the improvements include dedicated spaces and sign language interpreters, after a state-level PPS management simulation at the Sungai Jawi multipurpose hall in Nibong Tebal. More than 9,000 PPS have been identified nationwide and 6,000 volunteers are trained for mobilisation.

Flood in Larut Matang and Selama: 76 evacuees at Dewan Changkat Larah relief centre
Seventy-six people from 24 families are sheltering at a temporary relief centre at Dewan Changkat Larah in Kamunting, Larut Matang and Selama, Perak, after flooding. The number rose from 69 at 4am to 76 at 8am, with evacuees from Taman Larah Damai, Kampung Changkat, Taman Lela and Taman Kamunting Mutiara.

Sarawak launches Sarawak-Brunei-Sabah cross-border guidebook

Firemen trek 2km up Bukit Perak Cave Temple to bring down Nepali man's body

Yokouchi, Taniguchi win 100km titles at Malaysia Ultra-Trail in Taiping
Japanese runners Yutaro Yokouchi and Mika Taniguchi won the men's and women's MY100 categories at the Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB 2026 in Taiping. Yokouchi finished the 100km race in 12:18:44, while Taniguchi clocked 15:37:54. The three-day event drew more than 2,700 participants from 63 countries.
