Body of missing fisherman identified by wife after boat capsizing
The body of Muhammad Shahril Abdul Rahman, one of the fishermen missing after a boat capsized, was found this morning in the waters off Hutan Melintang, Perak. His wife identified him by his shirt and ear shape at the Kampung Semenja jetty camp in Kapar. The body was sent to Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem.

72-year-old man burned as motorcycle catches fire in Jelutong
A 72-year-old man suffered first-degree burns to his hands and legs when his Honda EX5 motorcycle caught fire at Jalan Lenggong, Symphony Park in Jelutong, Penang. Firefighters from the Jalan Perak station put out the blaze, and the victim was taken to Penang Hospital. The case has been handed to the Fire Investigation Team.

Decorated boats light up Malaysia Day in Trong, fishermen of all races join

Woman dies, two hurt after lorry hits stalled car at Km 284.4 of the North-South Expressway
A 32-year-old woman was killed and her sister and a motorcyclist were seriously injured when a lorry struck their stalled Perodua Axia at Kilometre 284.4 of the North-South Expressway northbound around 9am. Police in Nilai are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Perak tells schools to stagger student clinic visits after Ipoh flu cluster
A boarding school in Ipoh sent 57 students with influenza-like illness to a nearby clinic at once, prompting Perak health authorities to advise schools to stagger such visits. The Kinta District Health Office is managing an Influenza A cluster at the school, with 61 students screened and 46 diagnosed with ILI.

Health officials screened 61 symptomatic students up to Sept 14, with 14 also found to have upper respiratory tract infections and one conjunctivitis; all assessed students were stable as of Sept 15, 2026.

Two dead, one injured in two-lorry crash on Jalan Simpang Pulai
Two men aged 40 and 35 were killed and another was injured when two lorries collided on the Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands road near Ipoh last night. A 42-year-old man trapped in one vehicle was extricated by firefighters and taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment.

Perak vet dept seizes 15 live cattle in Simpang Pulai smuggling bust
Perak's Veterinary Services Department seized 15 live cattle worth RM37,500 in a raid at Kampung Pawong, Simpang Pulai, last night. Ex-commando recalls Op Subuh at Bukit Jenalik
A former member of Commando 69, Zol'aini Sabar, 68, said Malaysia's peace today is the result of soldiers' sacrifices. He recalled the Bukit Jenalik tragedy in Kuala Kangsar on 2 July 2000, when the Al-Maunah group that stole weapons from the Wataniah Regiment camp in Gerik fortified itself there, triggering Op Subuh. Two security personnel died in the operation.

LKIM rolls out PADAN database to streamline aid, subsidies for fisherfolk
LKIM is now using its Fishermen Database System (PADAN) as the master database to coordinate aid and subsidies for fishing communities nationwide. Its chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said the system speeds up data access, vetting and eligibility screening, and also touched on maritime enforcement and a TVET programme for fishermen's children. Heavy rain lasting over an hour caused flash floods in several areas around Ipoh, including Medan Gopeng and Sungai Rokam. Kinta district APM monitored both locations and reported water had fully receded, with the main pump at Kampung Sungai Rokam activated. No trapped victims or evacuations were reported.

A lorry driver became angry and threatened to end his life after being issued a summons during a JPJ Selangor commercial vehicle operation on the North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh today. Two express bus drivers also gave excuses of not knowing the lane rules, while another admitted driving in the right lane to rush a cargo delivery.

Ipoh gets RM12.5m tourism boost, coffee festival to be annual
Ipoh is set to receive RM12.5 million for tourism and Kinta Riverfront upgrades, announced by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming at the inaugural Ipoh Coffee Festival 2026 at Riverfront @ Old Town. The festival, which drew thousands over four days, will become an annual event alongside the Ipoh Food Festival, with a white coffee master competition planned for next year.

Crest Builder Holdings Bhd's wholly owned unit Cbtech (M) Sdn Bhd has secured a RM56.88 million contract for electrical works at a commercial development in Bandar Sri Damansara, Selangor. The contract, awarded by Pesona Metro Sdn Bhd, covers Phase 1A (a 14-storey retail mall) and Phase 1C (a 40-storey office tower) on Lot 73013, Persiaran Perdana. Work starts Sept 1, 2026, and is scheduled for completion by March 17, 2028.

Two more remanded over fake vehicle ownership document syndicate in Perak
Two more individuals, a company owner and a car broker, were remanded for seven days until 21 September by the Ipoh Civil Magistrate's Court to assist a Perak MACC investigation. They are suspected of involvement in a syndicate forging vehicle ownership documents and bribing enforcement agency officers in Perak. The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

Ipoh storekeeper pleads not guilty to molesting convenience store worker
A 23-year-old storekeeper was brought before the Ipoh Magistrate's Court on two charges of molesting and insulting the modesty of a 19-year-old convenience store worker. Lorry driver killed by falling rock at Keramat Pulai quarry
A 53-year-old lorry driver, M. Sivakumar, was killed when a rock crushed his vehicle at a quarry in Keramat Pulai, Kampung Kepayang near Simpang Pulai, Perak. Fire and rescue personnel from Simpang Pulai and Gopeng extricated him using hydraulic equipment, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
