Noraqilah to play through ankle pain at Asian Games
Malaysian women's doubles shuttler Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan has left for Japan for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games despite a left ankle injury picked up in training at the Badminton Academy of Malaysia last Thursday. Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin wins overall eDOLA 2026 title
The 14th Digital Learning Innovation Awards (eDOLA) for polytechnics and community colleges was held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) in Shah Alam. Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin took the overall championship and RM120,000. Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Aminuddin Hassim also launched SATRIA, a blockchain-based academic verification system.

Tekad documentary on two Malaysian Everest climbers screened
Documentary director Ahmad Yazid said he could not sleep over the safety of two Malaysian climbers, Mohd Khafiz Bachok and Chew Wei Ngor, during their Everest summit mission. The documentary Tekad: Ekspedisi Guthrie Everest 2026 was given a closed special screening at GSC Subang Parade, Subang Jaya.

Lorry driver fails in High Court bid for RM19,604 termination benefits
The High Court in Shah Alam dismissed a lorry driver's appeal against the Director-General of Manpower's decision rejecting his claim for RM19,604 in salary in lieu of notice and termination benefits. The court found R. A. Murugan, 55, had breached his employment contract by staying away from work for more than two consecutive working days after May 13, 2024.

25 Shah Alam students compete in NST junior journalist contest

The 22nd Japanese Film Festival began on 8 September in the Klang Valley before travelling to George Town, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu until 18 October. Selangor: 70% of investor issues resolved, Mondelez opens RM90m Shah Alam crumb tower
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said Invest Selangor has resolved 74 of about 138 investment-related issues as of July, with over 60 site visits this year, giving a success rate of around 70%. He spoke in Shah Alam after launching Mondelez International's RM90 million Crumb Tower at its Cadbury Confectionery Malaysia plant, which will allow local chocolate crumb production instead of imports from South Africa and Australia.

Traditional healer acquitted of killing patient during ritual
The High Court in Shah Alam acquitted Che Hong Chiew, 55, of murdering Lim Sin Hue, 41, who sought ritual treatment in 2022. The judge found she was of unsound mind due to schizophrenia at the time and ordered her detained at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta. The prosecution has appealed.

Traffic policeman dies after motorcycle grazes lorry tyre in Jalan Kebun
A traffic policeman died after his motorcycle is believed to have grazed a lorry tyre in Jalan Kebun, Klang, on Wednesday night. The 41-year-old victim, attached to the Shah Alam district police traffic unit, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

George Kent (Malaysia) Bhd's subsidiary GK SuperTech signed a binding term sheet with Shandong Extreme Vision Technology for exclusive rights to rebrand, market and sell Extreme Vision's AI algorithms and large models in Malaysia and Singapore. The collaboration includes deploying Vision AI at George Kent's manufacturing plant in Puchong as a pilot smart-manufacturing site, with plans to expand across Asean.
