At Joo Seng Road in Singapore, a man was filmed picking up a community cat and attempting to place it into a carrier in a car boot. NParks investigated and said he is a community cat caregiver who was trying to bring an injured cat to a veterinary clinic; the cat later escaped and was seen back in the neighbourhood.

Four boys drowned retrieving football in Taman Desa Kayangan drain; all dead
A drowning incident occurred at a drain near Taman Desa Kayangan in the Sungai Chua/Kajang area at about 7:45pm, killing four boys aged 8 to 12. Police say the children had gone out to play football and likely fell into the roughly 10-foot-deep drain while trying to retrieve a ball; bodies were sent to Sultan Haji Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem.

Quarry boulder rolls onto lorry, killing 53-year-old driver
A boulder larger than the lorry rolled down and struck the vehicle at a quarry in Keramat Pulai, Perak, trapping the 53-year-old Indian driver Sivakumar in the cab. He was pronounced dead at the scene; 12 firemen freed his body, which has been handed to police for further investigation.

Indonesia sends KRI Canopus with underwater drones to find 129 missing in Virgo Transport 8 ferry sinking
Indonesia is deploying the hydro-oceanographic survey ship KRI Canopus, fitted with underwater drones, to search for 129 people still missing after the passenger ferry Virgo Transport 8 capsized. The ferry was carrying 243 people from Surabaya to Banjarmasin when it lost contact early Sunday; by Monday 108 survivors and six bodies had been found. Bad weather and the ferry's drift at a depth of about 30 metres are hampering dive operations.

Three held over attempted cable theft at Jalan Reko, Kajang

Car rental agent charged in Shah Alam over resale of SUV and rare plate
A car rental agent accused of reselling and transferring a Toyota Alphard with the rare plate "P111" is expected to be charged at the Shah Alam court at about 8am tomorrow. He faces three charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using forged documents, punishable under Section 465. The owner, a car rental company boss, rented out the vehicle for two months from Jan 13 and later found it and the plate had been resold, losing more than RM200,000.

Seven fishermen missing off Pulau Ketam, first day of SAR called off
Seven men including a boat skipper are missing after leaving Jeti Sementa in Kapar to fish, last seen near Batuan Kencing at about 5.30pm yesterday. The first day of the search and rescue operation was suspended at 7pm and will resume tomorrow morning, with the boat and all seven men still not found.

Malaysia, Thailand anti-corruption agencies agree to fight border graft
Malaysia's MACC and Thailand's NACC agreed to strengthen intelligence cooperation against cross-border corruption involving smuggling of subsidised goods, cigarettes and migrant trafficking. The agreement was reached at their 8th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 10 September. The MACC recorded 163 corruption complaints linked to border smuggling from 2021 to 2026, involving Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan.

A sizzling restaurant owner in Taiping was fined RM18,000 by the Taiping Sessions Court after pleading guilty to displaying the words Allah and Muhammad without a Malaysian Halal Certificate. Lorry driver killed by falling rock at Keramat Pulai quarry
A 53-year-old lorry driver, M. Sivakumar, was killed when a rock crushed his vehicle at a quarry in Keramat Pulai, Kampung Kepayang near Simpang Pulai, Perak. Fire and rescue personnel from Simpang Pulai and Gopeng extricated him using hydraulic equipment, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A factory bus crashed through a road divider and fell into a three-metre-deep drain near the Jalan Tun Dr Awang roundabout in Penang during evening peak hour. The 49-year-old driver was trapped and later extricated by firefighters before being taken to Penang Hospital.

The Ipoh magistrate's court extended the remand of five suspects by four days until Sept 18 in a MACC probe into forged vehicle ownership transfer documents. The five, part of 11 arrested including six RTD personnel, allegedly acted as middlemen and bribed enforcement officers in Perak.

More than 300 bid farewell as FDS crash victim Alexson Adit laid to rest in Lambir
Alexson Adit Henry, a 31-year-old Flying Doctor Service assistant medical officer, was buried at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir, Miri, on Sept 14 after a funeral service at Good Shepherd Church in Lutong. He was one of five people killed when an FDS helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram on Sept 8.
